I haven't listened to April enough to fully appreciate it as an album. To begin with, it is extremely dense and at times quite difficult: songs routinely stretch past seven minutes and progressions repeat with drone-like frequencies. What is certain, however, is that Mark Kozelek has created a complete, gorgeous statement: the more one listens to April, the more each song becomes part of a greater whole.
